Honey Bear Learning Center has earned a five-year renewal on their accreditation through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), a distinction the program has held since 1995.  NAEYC is a professional membership organization that works to promote high-quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. NAEYC advances a diverse, dynamic early childhood profession and supports all who care for, educate, and work on behalf of young children. In earning this distinction, Honey Bear scored an average of 98.7% among the following standards; relationships, curriculum, teaching, assessment of child progress, health, teachers, families, community relationships, physical environment, and leadership and management. The program proved over 1000 criterion indicators in order to earn their re-accreditation.

Honey Bear takes great pride in their highly educated and skilled staff, who earned classroom observation scores of 99%. When asked to comment on the process of re-accreditation, Infant & Toddler Lead Teacher, Catie Lambert said “It was easy to be assessed because we treat every day as if an inspector is here.”

Earlier this month, Honey Bear opened their brand new, fully renovated Infant and Toddler program to families. Renovations included: all new classroom furniture and equipment, coded access to the school buildings, fingerprint scanners for checking in children, classroom and outdoor camera system, fully hard-wired fire and emergency system, and 2 nature based Infant & Toddler playgrounds. Honey Bear’s Infant and Toddler program has limited space available for the remainder of the 2017-2018 school year. Families can call 203-375-1866 for more information or to schedule a tour of their BEARY sweet new program!

Honey Bear is licensed for 52 children, open year-round, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with open enrollment at any time.  It is located at 1498 North Ave., Stratford and is set on 1.3 acres with 4 spacious play yards and is located across from Nichols Elementary School.  The program also offers before & after care for Nichols School children.
